MARILYS ERNST • DESIGNER

Designer of websites, logos, graphics, video art and product packaging

Website Designer

Case Study: Mobile Video Productions, NYC

Designed several sites and pitches for this client. The original site design was simply in HTML coding; while the latest version is in the highly responsive Bootstrap 4 framework.

Maintain active and comprehensive site and media log to keep relevant work samples up front.

As a website designer for almost 15 years, I have created more than 1,000 pages for my clients. I work mostly with artists and performers. I helped transition numerous mid-career artists from physical portfolios to online virtual representation. Instantly my New York clients could apply for LA work without having to over-night their portfolios. Ok, the file size had to be small at first, but it was still instant.

OTHER HATS: Video Editor, Logo Designer, Web Developer, mild mannered Coder, Flash dabbler, PhotoShop expert.

COOL FACTOR: Working with beautiful images always makes me happy!

Logo Promo & Graphic Designer

Case Study: The Game Is Up; Disillusioned Trump Voters Tell Their Stories

Designed Marketing and Promotional Materials for film festival run, including Banners, Postcards, Business Cards and Website. Created logo for film burnin and website.

I design logos that are distinctive, timeless and simple that convey a brand specific message.

OTHER HATS: Lead Editor and film's Co-Producer.

COOL FACTOR: Winning over 25 festival awards, and getting distribution on Amazon, YouTube, GooglePlay and Tubi!

Video Artist

Case Study: The United Nations: BREAKING THE SILENCE/BEATING THE DRUM

Designed video projections that ran on two screens simultaneously behind dance performance in the United Nation's Great Hall for live dance event.

Historically there has been a disconnect between live performance and video installation. One is generally experienced as a fixed art form while the other is a living one. Over the years, I have explored ways to help those differences disappear as a video artist introducing multi-media elements to performance including live feed, responsive video and integration with sound, light and set design

OTHER HATS: Video Technician.

COOL FACTOR: Being in the green room with Whoopi Goldberg, Gilberto Gil, Sarah Jones, Salif Keita, CCH Pounder, Phylicia Rashad, and Stew from Passing Strange was cool, but being the ONLY ONE in the audience during dress rehearsal, unforgettable!

Package Designer

Case Study: 123 Glow: Home Facial Kit

Designed packaging, instruction booklet, logo and layout of a new skincare product.

Designed banner ad and FaceBook page in support of a $100k cable TV marketing campaign.

Managed printing procedures and maintained product guidelines for reputed skincare company,

There were a lot of firsts on this project for me, mostly involving speaking to German bankers and their technicians about their financial instruments. There was also an opportunity to be part of a product story from the ground up. Between designing the packaging and creating a strategy to take the product to market, this is a project that I am truly proud to have been a part of.

OTHER HATS: Web Developer & Designer, WooComerce Site, Marketing Strategist.

COOL FACTOR: Being part of the original product story and participating in its development through to first print of 10,000 physical boxes--amazing!
